Hua Hin Railway Station

## Thailand's Most Photographed Train Station Hua Hin Railway Station is widely regarded as the most beautiful train station in Thailand and one of the most photogenic in all of Southeast Asia. Built in 1926, the striking red-and-cream Victorian-style wooden building has become an unofficial symbol of Hua Hin, drawing visitors even when they have no train to catch. ## History The Southern railway line reached Hua Hin in 1911, transforming a quiet fishing village into a seaside resort for Bangkok's elite and the Thai royal family. The original station was rebuilt in 1926 in the distinctive Victorian wooden style you see today, with its ornate gingerbread trim, peaked gables, and warm colour palette. It remains a functioning station, with trains arriving daily from Bangkok and points south. ## The Royal Waiting Room The station's most famous feature is the Royal Waiting Room, a beautiful teak pavilion painted in bright yellow and red. Originally part of Sanam Chandra Palace in Nakhon Pathom, the structure was relocated to Hua Hin in 1968 to serve the royal family during their coastal visits. While the interior is closed to the public, the exterior is accessible and makes for excellent photographs. ## What to See Beyond the main building and Royal Waiting Room, the platform displays vintage steam locomotives as static exhibits, offering a nostalgic tribute to the age of steam rail travel. The beautifully maintained flower beds and traditional Thai signage complete the scene. The entire visit feels like stepping back in time. ## Getting There The station is on Damnoen Kasem Road in central Hua Hin, about a 5-minute walk from the night market on Dechanuchit Road....
