Digital Nomad Visa (DTV)
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), commonly known as the Digital Nomad Visa, was introduced in June 2024 to attract remote workers, freelancers, and digital nomads. It is a 5-year multiple-entry visa that allows stays of up to 180 days per entry, with the option to extend each stay by another 180 days. This visa legally permits remote work for foreign employers or your own overseas business while living in Thailand.
Requirements
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity remaining
Proof of remote work or freelance activity
Employment contract with a foreign company, client contracts, business registration, or portfolio of freelance work
Financial proof
Bank statements or income proof showing at least 500,000 THB (~$14,500 USD) in savings or annual income
Health insurance
Health insurance with coverage of at least $50,000 USD valid in Thailand
Passport-sized photos
Two recent photos (4x6 cm) with white background
Application Process
Apply Online or at Embassy
Apply through the Thai e-Visa system at thaievisa.go.th or visit your nearest Thai embassy. Upload all required documents including proof of remote work and financial evidence.
Pay the Visa Fee
Pay 10,000 THB via credit card (e-Visa) or as instructed by the embassy. This is a one-time fee for the full 5-year visa validity.
Receive Approval
Processing typically takes 10-15 business days. You will receive your e-Visa approval via email or collect the visa sticker from the embassy.
Enter Thailand
Present your DTV visa at immigration upon arrival. You will receive a 180-day stamp. You can work remotely legally from day one.

Extension
Each 180-day stay can be extended once for another 180 days at an immigration office (1,900 THB). The visa itself is valid for 5 years with unlimited entries, giving you maximum flexibility. After 360 days total, you must exit and re-enter Thailand.
