Thailand Launches AI-Powered Travel App with Mastercard Integration
Planning a trip to Thailand just got a lot easier. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched the revamped Amazing Thailand app on March 15, 2026, built in partnership with Mastercard and packed with AI-powered features aimed at international travelers.
What the App Does
The updated Amazing Thailand app is designed as a one-stop travel companion for visitors to Thailand. Key features include:
- AI-powered chatbot that provides real-time travel assistance and personalised recommendations based on your preferences
- Trip planning tools for building custom itineraries with places to stay, eat, shop, and explore
- Safety guidance and practical information for tourists
- VAT refund information to help you claim tax back on purchases
- Mastercard Priceless Experiences — exclusive travel experiences available through the app for Mastercard holders
The app is available for free on both the App Store and Google Play.
Why TAT Built This
The app is part of TAT's broader "Thailand Tourism Next" strategy, which focuses on quality over volume. Rather than simply chasing visitor numbers, Thailand wants travelers to stay longer, spend more broadly, and visit destinations beyond the usual Bangkok-Phuket-Chiang Mai circuit.
By connecting travelers directly with local merchants, restaurants, and community-based tourism operators, the app aims to distribute tourism spending more evenly across the country and support small businesses and local communities.
TAGTHAi: The Other App Worth Knowing
The Amazing Thailand app isn't the only digital platform worth downloading. TAGTHAi, Thailand's national tourism platform, recently celebrated its 7th anniversary with impressive growth: over 4 million downloads (a 100% increase) and platform purchases growing by more than 170%.
TAGTHAi works with a network of over 3,000 partners covering attractions, hotels, restaurants, spas, golf courses, and tour programmes. Its focus for 2026 is promoting community-based tourism in secondary cities — helping travelers discover hidden gems while generating sustainable income for local villages.
Which App Should You Use?
Both apps serve slightly different purposes:
- Amazing Thailand is ideal for trip planning and discovery, especially if you want AI-powered recommendations and hold a Mastercard for exclusive deals
- TAGTHAi is better for booking activities and passes once you know where you're going, with bundled deals on attractions and experiences
For the best experience, download both before your trip. They're free and together they cover most of what you'll need for planning and booking in Thailand. If you're still figuring out when to go, check our weather guide, and don't forget to review the latest visa requirements before you fly.
