- Khao Yai National Park is 80 km south of Korat. There is no public transport to the park entrance. Hire a car, join a guided tour, or arrange transport through your hotel. Park admission is 400 baht for foreigners. Hire a local guide (1,500-2,000 baht/day) for wildlife spotting.
- The Phimai Festival in November features sound and light shows at the historical park, traditional boat races, and cultural performances. It is the best time to visit Phimai and a spectacular way to experience Khmer heritage.
- Korat is only 2.5 hours from Bangkok by car via Motorway 6. Frequent buses leave from Mo Chit terminal (150-250 baht). Trains take 4-5 hours. A high-speed rail link is under construction. Korat also has a small airport with some domestic flights.
