The town attracts a delightful mix of Thai weekenders from Chiang Mai, long-stay digital nomads, gap-year backpackers, and aging hippies who came in the 1990s and never left. Everyone moves at the same unhurried pace, and that collective surrender to slowness is Pai's greatest gift.
