Remote professional organising a Destination Thailand Visa evidence file

Workcation · soft power · family

Destination Thailand Visa.
Which DTV route?

Five-year validity is not five years of continuous stay.
Choose the official DTV category that matches your real purpose, then build the evidence and apply while you remain in the London embassy service area.

The DTV in four facts

Start with the structure—not the application form.

These figures come from the official London and Thai sources checked on 27 July 2026. Every application still remains subject to assessment.
Visa validity

5 years

Multiple entry from issue date—not five years of continuous stay.

Each entry

Up to 180 days

The entry stamp records the actual permission granted.

Financial evidence

500,000 THB

The London page currently describes this as no less than £11,000.

London fee

£300

Official listed application fee; recheck before submitting.

The DTV is an entry route, not a universal work permit.

DTV1 evidence supports workcation status. A Thai employer, Thai clients or mixed business activity can require a different legal analysis.

Check London guidance

Three categories, three decisive documents

Which evidence route matches your real purpose?

The base file stays similar, but the evidence that proves workcation, an activity or a family relationship is different.

Choose your category

The live e-Visa checklist and any embassy request control your actual file. Go2Thailand is not a visa agent.

DTV1 · Workcation

Show a real overseas work practice—not a digital-nomad label.

The official category covers digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talent and freelancers. Your contract, employer evidence or portfolio should make that status credible.

1

Passport biodata and a recent photograph

2

Proof that you are currently in the embassy service area

3

Financial evidence of at least 500,000 THB / the London-listed £11,000

4

Employment contract, employment certificate or professional portfolio

Do not treat DTV1 as blanket permission for a job with a Thai employer. Local employment can involve different visa and work-permit rules.

Validity versus permission to stay

Two timelines that should never share one label.

The visa can be used for multiple entries during five years. Every arrival produces a separate permission to stay and leave-by date.

One possible extension of up to another 180 days is a separate Immigration Bureau application. It is not an automatic second block.

The evidence file

Build the common layer first. Add category proof second.

Avoid a folder of unrelated screenshots. Current location, finances and route evidence should describe the same person, purpose and period.

From category to e-Visa

Four steps, with location checked before upload.

London processes applications online, but applicants must remain physically within the UK, Ireland or UK Territories service area during consideration.

Step 01

Choose DTV1, DTV2 or DTV3

Let the purpose and decisive proof choose the category.

Step 02

Build one coherent file

Identity, location, finances and purpose should support one another.

Step 03

Apply online from the UK area

Submit through Thai e-Visa and remain in the service area while it is assessed.

Step 04

Prepare every arrival

Keep the e-Visa, passport, TDAC and current stay evidence accessible.

Allow the London timeline, not a forum promise.

The embassy’s general guidance currently recommends applying 6–8 weeks before departure and describes approximately 15 working days as its standard processing time. Additional documents or an interview can extend that.

Destination Thailand Visa questions, with the routes kept separate

Questions come from the 27 July 2026 UK DataForSEO results. Answers use official Thai MFA, Thai e-Visa and Royal Thai Embassy London sources and never promise approval.
What is the Destination Thailand Visa?

The DTV is a five-year multiple-entry visa with three official routes: workcation for digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talent and freelancers; selected Thai soft-power activities; and spouses or children under 20 of DTV holders. The permitted stay is up to 180 days per entry.

What are the DTV visa requirements for Thailand?

All routes require identity, a recent photograph, current-location evidence and financial evidence. DTV1 adds overseas work or portfolio proof; DTV2 adds activity or medical confirmation; DTV3 adds the main holder’s DTV and relationship evidence. The live e-Visa checklist can request more.

How much money do I need for a DTV visa?

The official Thai measure states financial evidence of at least 500,000 THB. The Royal Thai Embassy in London currently expresses that requirement as no less than £11,000 and gives examples such as bank statements or a sponsorship letter. Use the exact live upload guidance for your application.

How much is a DTV visa from the UK?

The Royal Thai Embassy in London page checked on 27 July 2026 lists a £300 application fee. Fees can change and are generally non-refundable, so confirm the amount in the official e-Visa process before paying.

Can I work remotely in Thailand on a DTV?

DTV1 is expressly described for workcation, including digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talent and freelancers. That does not automatically authorise employment for a Thai company or every income arrangement. Seek official or professional advice for a mixed or local-employment case.

Can the 180-day DTV stay be extended?

The official MFA measure describes one possible extension through Thailand Immigration for a period not exceeding another 180 days per entry. It is a separate discretionary process, not an automatic 360-day grant. The extension guide owns that procedure.

Can I apply for a DTV while in Thailand?

The official Thai e-Visa site says applicants must be outside Thailand. The London embassy also requires applicants in its process to remain physically in the UK, Ireland or UK Territories while the application is considered.

Do DTV holders still need a TDAC?

Yes. The London embassy states that all foreign travellers complete a TDAC for every entry. It is a separate arrival registration and does not replace the DTV or guarantee admission.
