Check exemption first
A short holiday may not need a tourist visa at all.

Answer the first question first
A short holiday may not need a tourist visa at all.
Separate this from the visa-validity window.
The embassy advises applying 6–8 weeks before departure.
Single versus multiple entry; always recheck before payment.
This page records a dated source check, then sends you to the authorities for the final check. Your passport stamp remains the practical leave-by date.
Match the route to the itinerary
Visa exemption · current UK rule
At our 27 July 2026 source check, GOV.UK and the Royal Thai Embassy in London both state that UK ordinary passport holders can visit for tourism for up to 60 days under the visa-exemption route.
Visa exemption is not a visa, and neither route guarantees admission. Check the live rule again before booking and before departure.
What this route means
Three clocks, three meanings
A visa-validity window, a permitted stay and a possible extension are separate decisions. Keep them on separate lines in your itinerary.
Before travel
The period in which the visa can be used to enter—three months for single entry and six months for multiple entry in the London guidance.
At the border
Up to 60 days for the Tourist Visa. Read the actual leave-by date in your immigration stamp.
Inside Thailand
A separate application before expiry. It is discretionary and should never be treated as guaranteed time.
One coherent application

Prepare, then verify live
Do not upload invented reservations or rely on an agency promise. The embassy can request more evidence or an interview.

The London embassy currently states about 15 working days, but additional documents or an interview can extend the process. Applications can be made no earlier than 90 days before intended arrival.
Only after choosing your entry route
Official guidance can ask for travel and accommodation evidence. Choose conditions that fit the uncertainty of your application—never a booking sold as a visa guarantee.
Prepare the separate TDACTrip.com and 12Go links are sponsored affiliate links for genuine travel planning. A reservation never guarantees visa approval or admission.
Real UK Tourist Visa searches
For a full British citizen passport, the official sources checked on 27 July 2026 state that a tourist visit of up to 60 days can normally use visa exemption. Different passports, travel documents, purposes or longer plans can require a visa. Recheck GOV.UK and the Royal Thai Embassy immediately before travel.
A British citizen travelling on a full British passport would normally use the current visa-exemption route for a two-week holiday, not apply for a Tourist Visa. You still need to meet the entry conditions and complete a TDAC for the arrival.
The current UK guidance says British citizens may visit for 60 days for tourism and certain other permitted activities. That is a visa exemption, not a Tourist Visa. Your passport stamp is the practical record of the stay granted at the border.
The Royal Thai Embassy in London fee page checked on 27 July 2026 lists £30 for a single-entry Tourist Visa and £150 for a multiple-entry Tourist Visa. Fees can change and are paid through the official process, so confirm the live amount before submitting.
The official e-Visa flow determines the exact upload list for your nationality and location. Expect identity, residence, confirmed travel, accommodation and financial evidence, plus any case-specific documents. Use the live checklist rather than copying an old third-party list.
The London embassy currently describes a standard processing time of approximately 15 working days and recommends applying 6–8 weeks before departure. Extra documents or an interview can add time, so this is guidance rather than a guarantee.
An extension may be requested at a Thai Immigration office before your permitted stay expires, but it is a separate application and not an automatic entitlement. The dedicated extension guide owns the document, timing and overstay questions.
No. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is an arrival registration, not permission to stay. Travellers complete it separately within the official submission window for every entry, whether arriving with a visa or using visa exemption.
